CTE Graduation Pathway at LRHS
Lind-Ritzville High School
CTE Sequence Pathway Requirement
Updated 2023-24 School Year
Download these guidelines and the application here.
A student may meet this graduation pathway option by completing a sequence of CTE courses, which align with the student’s High School and Beyond Plan. Satisfying this graduation pathway option meets requirements in both English and math. A course that is used as part of a CTE sequence may also be used to meet subject area graduation requirements in CTE or in other subject areas through CTE course equivalencies.
The student may choose this pathway, in coordination with the high school counselor and the student's parents or guardians, starting in the student’s 9th grade year. All students who do not meet the cut score for SBA or any other pathway will be asked to attend a counseling session on the requirements to meet this pathway.
- Set up an appointment with the school counselor and with your parents to review the guidelines to earn this pathway requirement.
- State your intentions to use this pathway as a graduation requirement in your HSBP (see sample statement below). Your class mentor should be able to advise you on this.
- Complete the CTE Graduation Pathway application and return it to the school counselor; completing this application can be done with the high school counselor.
- Get signatures from your mentor, counselor, principal, and parents.
- Complete a 2-credit sequence of courses that meet the following minimum criteria:
- Lead to a state or nationally recognized certificate or credential, or allow students to earn dual credit through CTE Dual Credit, Advanced Placement, or other agreement or program.
- Be composed of a sequenced progression of multiple courses that are technically intensive and rigorous.
- Lead to workforce entry, a state or nationally approved apprenticeship, or postsecondary education in a related field.
- The sequence of courses may be in a single CTE program area, or in more than one program area.
- Job shadow in the program area for a minimum of 8 hours with proof from supervisor
Sample CTE Pathway HSBP Statement:
As I move forward in making decisions about my post-secondary goals, I believe it is fitting for me to earn the CTE Graduation Pathway to meet this graduation requirement. I say this because I have plans to work in the agriculture field after I graduate. By taking two credits of courses in our Ag CTE program I plan to earn a certificate in forklift driving, earn some college credits in welding through BBCC, and volunteer 8 hours or more of my time job shadowing at the Jay Harder Ranch before I graduate from high school. If I change these plans, I will certainly share this with my high school counselor.
